This year I’m on a different kick; I simply want to reduce spending and focus in on the sentimentality of the holiday verses the materialism. However, to be quite honest with you…gifting is an inevitable part of our holiday season, and so I might as well have some ideas up my sleeve. But they don’t all have to be purchased, they can be made as well! Here are some gift ideas for both purchasing and handmade.
This pin is so darling. Putting those little piggies on canvas really elevates the craft and makes for a darling painting for grandparents and parents. I have many of these on paper and pots but not on canvas. I might have to get some of these done for my own home! Willow’s feet are still small. Just go to your local craft store and snatch-up some acrylic colors and a few small canvases. This could be very inexpensive for a sweet homemade present.
A fun wall hanging could be a fabulous homemade gift. Just purchase a needlepoint wooden ring, some silk flowers and fake greenery and a yard of lace fabric. Cut the fabric in strips, tie on some thick yarn, wire on the flowers and wrap the wooden ring with ribbons. Secure with some hot glue and attach some thick twine or ribbon to hang it. This could be such a sweet and elegant wall hanging if done tastefully and with soft tones.
I feel like a pom pom wreath would be a spectacular present in a neutral color, very fluffy and full, and made very clean. I would love it if somebody made one for me. I think there are sort of “oh, that was a nice thought” kind of homemade presents and then there can be showstoppers like this idea. Both are wonderful in there own merit but sometimes you just want to show off something really pretty! Just get woolly yarn, a wreath form, and hot glue and you’re in business. Add a gorgeous ribbon and something that can be used for all of Fall and Winter and you’ve nailed it.
